Initial situation and requirements
Over the past decade, wind energy has become an attractive resource for Chinese investors. Interested in this flourishing business, one Chinese company has committed to the investment, construction and operation of new energy projects throughout the country. For a new wind farm acquisition project on the site of Nan’ao in the province of Guangdong, the company required the support of an independent third party to provide comprehensive due diligence services and technical reports to guarantee the successful performance and desired profitability of the planned investment.
With extensive experience in independent due diligence services for wind farm , TÜV Rheinland emerged as the best partner to conduct this project.

Solutions, results
Three experts from TÜV Rheinland were involved in this project. They first carried out comprehensive assessments of the wind resources available on site. Our experts then evaluated and inspected each wind turbine and conducted a design evaluation of the wind farm. Finally, they assessed possible risks and calculated the energy yield forecast.
To ensure compliance with all relevant norms and regulations, we provided all due diligence services in accordance with EN 50308 and other specific Chinese regulations on wind farms, and protective measures and requirements for the design, operation and maintenance of wind turbines.
Upon completion of the assessment and due diligence project, the Chinese investor gained a clear, neutral and reliable overview of the potential profitability and forecast performance of his new wind farm project in Nan’ao, provided by an independent third party inspection company. We were thus able to assure our client of the soundness of the investment and the quality of the wind farm.
